It was the second message I received that week from an out-of-state friend saying he/she was in town. This time, I couldn’t drop everything to go hug him.
An hour later, I wandered towards the prayer room wondering if he was still there. I wondered what I’d do if he wasn’t. Go home? Keep searching? [...]
A friend encouraged me not to give up on God while waiting. Frankly, until he said that, I hadn’t considered giving up on God an option. All of the sudden, it became an option. A very easy one.
After one conversation, I decided she would be one of those people I didn’t go out of my way to talk to. If we crossed paths, a courteous, “Hey, how are you?” would be sufficient. Something about her personality made me uncomfortable.
