It felt like that scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where Barbossa says, “Food turns to ash in my mouth!”
I was eating breakfast but something wasn’t right.
“What is this junk I’m eating?” I asked myself, rolling around one of my favorite foods in my mouth.
I’d just gotten home from ten days in Europe.
Needless to say, food doesn’t taste the same in America as it does in Europe.
Once you’ve tasted the good stuff, there’s no going back to what you used to enjoy. Life tastes different now.
I’ve gotten a taste of the good stuff spiritually.
True community — where you fight for (not against) each other, honor one another’ preferences above your own, and catch tears as the fall freely.
True intimacy — where conversations with God are extended one-on-one talks, where the Bible jumps off the page and into your life, where Sunday church is just an appetizer.
True church — where no one’s there just because it’s the Sunday morning activity on their calendar, where their spiritual life doesn’t depend on what the pastor says, and where “worship” means more than music.
This is discipleship — the big fancy church word that means drawing closer to the Father together.
I’ve tasted it and I know it’s good. Oh it’s so good!
I want you to have a taste of it too.
Encountering the Father Together
I wish you and I could sit down and chat over a cup of coffee (if you’re not a coffee drinker, you’d been in good company. I’d order a hot chocolate).
I’d love to hear your story. To ask you the hard questions. To let iron sharpen iron. To leave you one step closer to Jesus.
Wouldn’t that be so much fun? If we’re ever in the same city, let’s do it.
(I mean that ^)
But even though we’re not, I’d love to escort you back to the throne of the King.
I want to set you in His lap and let Him sing His sweet song in your ear.
Can’t hear Him?
Have you tried the Hearing God’s Voice course?
Five lessons that will transform the way you see yourself and the way you interact with Him.
No longer will you dread prayer as the same old words feel like they’re bouncing off the ceiling and straight back to you.
It’ll radically transform your prayer life into a two-way conversation between the Heavenly Father and His beloved daughter.
Plus it’s completely online.
Grab a small group, a friend, a stranger you met at Wal-mart… and let’s do this.
Not quite ready for that bold step of intimacy.
There’s still room for you at the table.
What if we get you started with some free stuff?
I need a constant reminder of God’s goodness. His faithfulness. His freedom.
So I made an iPhone lock screen background to remind me of that.
They’re scripture passages that are designed to perfectly fit both iPhone and Android.
Actually I made three of them just in case one gets so routine that I forget to read it while the TouchID magically reads my fingerprint like I’m a secret agent.
Then my friends started asking for them. (The lock screens not the secret agent powers… well, actually those too).
So I figured I’d share them with you as well.
I’ll email them to you.
I’m so glad you’re here. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.
Here are some other great places to get started.
How else can we encounter the Father together? Shoot me an email. It’s the location-less cup of coffee.
(Yes, I do read and answer every single email. Sometimes it just takes a few days).
