Dear 2013
Dear 2013,
Tonight we say good-bye to our dear friend 2012. Wow. What a year! No new stamps for my passport but no shortage of new lines on my resume, new friendships, and new opportunities. The year of hope turned into the year of dreams coming true. Truthfully, I’m sad to see her go.
But there was one huge problem with 2012.

Joy.
It went missing over the summer.
It returned home and disappeared again sporadically throughout the remainder of the year.
This year, may my joy be found not in my circumstances but rather in hope, in the Lord. In His love, His faithfulness, and His promises fulfilled.
Once again, there’s so much unknown coming my direction as you, 2013, also offer promises. Almost a million weddings, the long-awaited youth gathering, another chance to speak Spanish, and even a chance to speak publicly in English or a book.
There are so many reasons to rejoice. So many new opportunities waiting. May each day be met with true joy, not just a smile.
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Cling to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” – Romans 12:9-13
See you on the flip-side.
With joy,
Katie
